International child support enforcement

Pursuant to § 2 para. 3 of its articles of association, the DIJuF offers its members legal assistance in legal proceedings involving issues of paternity and maintenance payments, including cross-border enforcement of child and adolescent maintenance claims.

The DIJuF supports its members in the assertion and enforcement of maintenance claims in foreign jurisdictions. The DIJuF's scope of activities ranges from assistance in the calculation of maintenance owed and advice on the interpretation of legal rules to the enforcement of maintenance claims in foreign countries and subsequent payment. The DIJuF is currently dealing with almost 5000 maintenance claims.

The DIJuF is internationally connected to both governmental and non-governmental organisations that deal with the enforcement of child maintenance claims and questions of family law. During the past few years the DIJuF answered questions concerning legal matters in 90 different countries.

Due to a considerable number of cases in the USA, the DIJuF maintains a close working relationship with each of the US departments responsible for the enforcement of child maintenance claims. This considerably simplifies and quickens the processing of cases.
